Our new 12–18 month room provides a calm, nurturing, and welcoming environment where your child can begin to explore the world with confidence. We understand that this stage is often a child’s first experience away from home, so building secure relationships is at the heart of everything we do.

Every child is valued as an individual and cared for by our warm, experienced, and highly trained team. We take time to get to know each child’s unique personality, routines, and interests, ensuring they feel safe, loved, and supported every day. There are always plenty of cuddles, reassurance, and encouragement as children begin to develop their confidence and independence.

Learning and Development

Between 12 and 18 months, children experience remarkable growth in all areas of development. They become increasingly curious, eager to explore their surroundings, and keen to communicate with the people around them.

Our carefully planned environment encourages children to investigate, discover, and learn through play. Whether they are taking their first independent steps, developing early language, experimenting with cause and effect, or exploring different textures and materials, every experience is designed to support their natural curiosity.

We provide a rich variety of sensory, creative, and physical activities that promote communication, movement, problem-solving, and social development. Through singing, stories, imaginative play, and responsive interactions, we help children build confidence while developing the foundations for lifelong learning.

Care and Routines

We recognise that every child has their own routine, and we work closely with families to ensure consistency between home and nursery. Whether it’s sleep times, meal routines, comforters, or favourite activities, we adapt our care to meet each child’s individual needs.

Most children in this age group will still be wearing nappies. We ask parents to provide nappies and wipes, which can be stored on your child’s named section. Our team ensures every nappy change is carried out sensitively and respectfully, making it a positive opportunity for one-to-one interaction and communication.

Monitoring Progress

We carefully observe each child’s development through their everyday play, interactions, and experiences. These observations allow us to celebrate achievements, understand each child’s interests, and plan activities that support their next steps in learning.

We use Ovivio (formally Blossom Educational) to securely record Golden Moments and developmental milestones. Parents receive notifications through the Ovivio app whenever there is something special to share, helping you stay connected with your child’s nursery journey.

Growing Together

As your child develops confidence, independence, and new skills, we carefully support their transition to The Parish Rooms. We work closely with families to ensure each child moves on when they are emotionally, socially, and developmentally ready, making the transition a positive and exciting experience for everyone.
