Little Oaks @ The Parish Rooms
VIEW OUR VIRTUAL TOUR
We offer a warm, welcoming environment that is the perfect first step away from home for your little one. Each individual child is valued and nurtured, with an essential staple of plenty of cuddles, delivered freely by our warm, experienced, and well-trained staff team.
Learning
A toddler’s third year is an exciting time of imitating and remembering lots of new language, learning about the world, and also about their own emotions and feelings.
Between the ages of 2 and 3 their brain power increases at an astonishing rate, so their improved thinking, learning and memory skills give them all kinds of new ways to play, explore and express their opinions. At this stage toddlers’ brains are like sponges, absorbing the way people act towards each other; remembering places and faces they’ve seen before; learning how toys work and games are played; and recognising familiar noises, songs and rhymes – sometimes joining in with the words and actions. We support and extend children’s cognitive and emotional development through our warm, friendly and richly-resourced environment.

Toileting
Most children joining us at under 2 will not yet be potty trained. Please supply nappies and wipes in a small bag which can be hung from your child’s named peg, and let us know if you are attempting potty training so we can follow as closely as possible what you are doing at home. At all times we will do our best to support strategies you are finding useful but please also feel free to ask our well-qualified team for ideas and suggestions, whether it concerns your toddler’s behaviour, eating, toileting or sleeping.
Progress
We monitor and assess children’s social and educational development using keenly observed snapshots of their play from which to tailor opportunities for their learning. We use eyLog (https://eylog.co.uk/) to record these on tablets, with parents receiving notifications via an app when there is something to share.
Moving On
In July of the year your child turns 3, when moving from the Parish Rooms to our nursery at Tylers Green First School, we offer a settling-in experience for one or two sessions as part of our transition programme. Children are thus well-prepared for what comes next.
